I said bye to Andre and moved out on Sunday. Not gonna let y'all know where though. Just far away.
And I went out with Shaz.
And that's about it.Nothing much, other than his friends who spoke Malay.
Then I went to work with Jasmine.
And she's so tired she couldn't even open her eyes.Don't they both look like they're enjoying themselves?
These girls hardly finish their Chicken Salads.
Oh, our team lead bought us lunch for the first day.
That's my team lead on the left and Gracie on the right. And you can see Grace going down on her corn.
And I had half a chicken! This is what we wear to work!
Haha, see? Nothing fancy.Just in case you want to read a piece of something something, I'm currently a broadcast journalist and production assistant at NTV7. I'm working under the production team of Venus, Malaysia's only English talk show, hosted by Aisha Sinclair. I actually thought interns are only there to do paper work and help around carrying things and do research, I was wrong.
The first thing I was assigned to do was to clean the white board, which had stuff written all over it in permanent marker ink. Right after that, I was told to run a VoxPop at Pavilion. And after a few minutes of discussion, I was assigned FOUR VoxPop assignments, including topics such as bone density, girls and their wheels, toxic friend and another one which I cannot remember at the moment, and I'm not willing to bring out my diary at home. I was assigned an entire story titled 'Tax & Me' because Tax Day is just around the corner. So I had to scout for someone from LHDN to come on set for a live interview. AND I had to find a taxing consultant from a famous company. CJ didn't pick up his phone so I resorted to Bern. Thankfully the PR lady from both companies are nice and speak English, or I'd have died.
Tuesday, I was assigned to do a full story research on people who have overcome drug addiction. Ans Jasmine was assigned to do VoxPops at OneUtama that day herself so she was out and I had to run around in the office. I helped run the live show in the morning and typed another thousand emails after lunch.
Today (Wed) I was told to cover the story on ex drug addicts. So I'm going out on Saturday with a personal cameraman and recording my own show. Can you believe that? Yeah, Jasmine is recording her own show next Tuesday. We had to do voice training and posture and decide how to shoot the subject as well as ourselves and submit it after three days from the shoot so that it can go on air three days later. I also ran the show with Jasmine from the studio because it was prerecorded. But we still had to sit there for half an hour to indicate the commercial department whenever we have commercials. Basically it's playing the tape and calling the office back and forth and counting down. It was intense, but hugely amusing.
So I'll be going to Pavilion tomorrow for my first outdoor VoxPop assignment. Special thanks to Bern, Adele and Jovinna for helping out with the projects. Two of these folks will be making it onto the TV ;) I'm having an audition with a few male celebrities on Friday because the program is looking for an extra host. And gawd, Kevin Zahri sounds so unhot on the phone.
Overall, work is crazy hectic and the scope is vast, but I'm happy that I'm in a team where we ALWAYS help each other help. And the people from The Breakfast Show are pretty nice to us as well, even though I only talk to the guy there. Deadlines come up just as fast as ideas and I'm expected to bring in Sharifah Aini and Fauziah Latiff on the same episode live AND the Wife of Prime Minister, Jeanne Abdullah for the episode after that. So yeah, calling and emailing and typing invitation letters are my new least favorite things to do.
I'm your nutcracker,
